Day 1 of the Tonybet Open Face Chinese Poker World Championship Main Event was full of action with 118 entries and 13 levels of play.
Among those to pay the €1,000 buy-in fee were a number of well-known poker faces including last year’s High Roller winner Jenifer Shahade, the recent €350 Progressive pineapple champ Isabelle Mercier, Maxim Panyak, who won last night’s €10,000 High Roller, the 2014 OFC world champion Mikal Blomlie, the Russian Master Sergey ‘Gipsy’ Rybachenko, the one European with the most WSOP titles to his name Max Pescaroti and many others.
However, none of them survived Day 1 as only 12 players advanced to tomorrow’s final round of OFC World Championship.
The first day of the main event saw some intriguing heads up battles as Jennifer Shahade got to play at the same table with both Blomlie and Panyak. Although on different occasions these clashes ended in different scenarios, at the end it wasn’t a decisive factor. All but Panyak busted before the money, with the latter collecting €1,548 for a fourth place finish.
Tomorrow the remaining field of 12 will resume the battle for the title at 15:00 local time. Be sure you tune in as we’re gonna re-launch the live stream and host the second €500 guaranteed online freeroll.
