The first-ever live Tonybet Open Face Chinese Poker World Championship took place in Prague, December 8 to 10, 2014. The event featured two OFC tournaments, the €1,000 buy-in Main Event and the €10,000 High Roller, plus a €120 buy-in satellite to the Main Event.
It was the high rollers who gave start to a three-day run, 23 of whom took their seats at the OFC poker tables. The digit was high enough to generate the biggest prize pool in a live Open Face Chinese event of €218,500.
The field featured some of the biggest names in poker, including the EPT Grand Final OFC event winner, EPT San Remo champion, and the owner of two WSOP bracelets Jason Mercier, the 2008 Aussie Millions champion and the 2011 PCA High Roller winner Alexander Kostritsyn, two-time American women's chess champion Jennifer Shahade, as well as two-time WSOP bracelet winner Rafi Amit, and Sorel Mizzi.
After 13 hours of play, it was none other than the only lady in the field, Jennifer Shahade who conquered the event and took home her biggest live cash of €100,000.
Next up was the €1,000 Main Event, which surpassed all the previous live OFC tournaments with 135 entries, breaking the record of the largest player field in an Open Face Chinese event.
In the end was the Norwegian online poker pro Mikal Blomlie who outplayed the field to become the first-ever OFC World Champion for €35,000.
